CON update

Over the protests of Dosher Memorial Hospital and more than 800 southern Brunswick County residents, state healthcare regulators have approved the application of an orthopedic surgery group for a Certificate of Need to build a free-standing operating room in Leland. The second applicant for the CON has appealed and the two parties will fight it out in court. Dosher is not a part of the appeal process.

"Dosher is focusing energy and resources to build its network of providers and services to meet the needs of the people of Smithville Township and surrounding communities," Dosher Board Secretary Joe Agovino says. "Thanks to all the area residents who joined Dosher employees, physicians, Board trustees, and volunteers writing letters or testifying on behalf of the hospital on this subject."
