A message from the Board

Recently, there have been several changes to the membership of the Board.

Joe Agovino, Trustee for almost 12 years and Board Secretary, resigned on July 10 and has joined the hospital as a contract employee to strengthen our community contacts and outreach. He was instrumental in expansion of the network of Dosher medical clinics, creation of the Wound Care Center, and formation of the Dosher Hospital Foundation.

At the July meeting, the Board nominated internal medicine physician Dr. Terry L. Pieper to fill the unexpired five months of Joe's second six-year term. On July 17, the Brunswick County Board of Commissioners approved Dr. Pieper for that position. He has been on the Medical Staff of the hospital since 2002 and we look forward to his participation on the Board of Trustees.

Trustee Scott Starks, MD, was elected as Board Secretary at that July 10 meeting.

At our August 7 meeting, Dr. Robert Zukoski resigned after 28 years on the Board. Trustees nominated former Southport Mayor Robert Howard to the Brunswick County Board of Commissioners to fill the remaining two years of Dr. Zukoski's current term.

Having served on the Board of Trustees for two years, I can say without reservation that it is an honor to serve with such dedicated civic, community, and healthcare leaders. Please contact us if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions. — Jim White, Trustee

Dr. Terry L. Pieper
