Dosher's Wound Care Center Recognized As National Center of Excellence

For the third year in a row, the Wound Care Center at Dosher Memorial Hospital has been recognized as a National Center of Excellence as well as a Center of Distinction. The criteria for these recognitions is the Center achieving patient satisfaction rates higher than 92 percent and a healing rate of 91 percent in less than 30 median days to heal, for a minimum of two consecutive years.

"The doctors, nurses and technicians on the Wound Care team are all specially trained in wound management and are invested in the most successful outcomes available for our patients," says Brad Hilaman, MD, Medical Director, Dosher Wound Care program. "It's rewarding to receive this recognition, but even more so to witness the quality of life that our patients regain after completing treatment."

Dosher's Wound Center is a member of the Healogics network of nearly 700 Wound Care Centers, with access to benchmarking data and proven experience treating approximately 2.5 million chronic wounds. Dosher offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Treatments at the Center include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which works by surrounding the patient with 100 percent oxygen under pressure to help progress the healing of the wound.

"The success of our Wound Care Center can be attributed to the several leading edge treatments we offer combined with the care and vigilance of our staff," says Dosher Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Scott Starks. "When you can reverse the need for an amputation or help a patient who has tried everything and has nowhere else to turn, we take great satisfaction in knowing the difference we have made in this community."

Since it opened in 2014, the Wound Care Center has provided more than 9,600 treatments for 1,387 patients.
