Clinical Informatics Nurse - Nursing Administration
Utilizes clinical knowledge, skills and experience to coordinate, plan, design, develop, implement, maintain and evaluate clinical application systems that are consistent with professional standards of clinical practice. Coordinates and facilitates communication between the IS department and end users (clinical Staff and Physicians) as required. Maintains strong clinical knowledge of healthcare trends, policy, regulatory and compliance issues. Participates in the development of and compliance with HIPAA standards to maintain the security, privacy, confidentiality, and integrity of health information.
FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
Acts as a liaison with clinical application users for report development, work requests, problem reporting, analysis and resolution.
Acts as liaison and primary contact with clinical application vendors and additional Information System resources for problem resolution and system updates. Coordinates and monitors application version control.
Administers security for assigned software applications.
Analyzes needs for data integration and participates in the definition and design of complex interfaces between different computer applications assuring integration and integrity of clinical information throughout the organization.
Assists in the development of policies/procedures for manual and computerized operations to fulfill regulatory requirements and continued operations
Consults specifically with clinicians too assess, develop and coordinate customization of systems that specifically address clinical needs
Coordinates data collection from a variety of clinical systems for business analysis in addition to quality indicator and outcomes reporting using available reporting tools.
Coordinates the planning, implementation, testing, and installation of maintenance upgrades for assigned clinical applications and provides revisions to documentation in a timely manner.
Develops, directs and implements training and retraining programs for assigned clinical application end users.
Evaluates clinical work flow in all clinical settings and recommends re-engineering of processes around utilization of computerized applications to maximize clinical setting efficiency and effectiveness.
Maintains a current knowledge of trends and issues in healthcare informatics and clinical practice in addition to organizational policies/procedures associated with clinical practice and the legal implications related to clinical information systems.
Monitors and assures that uniform clinical data definitions and standards are used and designed within supported systems.
Occasional after hour�s support required as dictated by project schedule.
Reviews clinical application procedures and maintains system tables to continuously improve and streamline the functional use of identified applications.
Serves as an internal consultant for the acquisition project management and technical support of new clinical applications and equipment.
Other duties as assigned.

R.N. experience with EHR - Required
Bachelor's degree with formal study in Clinical Informatics -Preferred
3 years Professional Clinical Experience
Demonstrate ability to be self-directed with effective organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal and written skills
Professional technical experience
