HVAC Mechanic - Plant Operations
Full time to perform general & preventive maintenance on HVAC, refrigeration and ice making equipment throughout the hospital owned off site properties.
•High school graduate or equivalent, trade school preferred
•Five (5) years of experience in HVAC trades. Some general electrical experience preferred
Necessary skills: (Other than trade skills)
•Communication with vendors, staff, and customers
•Familiarity with Regulatory Standards
•Maintain strictest confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations
•Constant standing or walking
•Lifting/carry up to 100 lbs.
•Push/Pull heavy equipment up to 250 lbs.
•Repetitive twisting and pressure involving hand and finger mobility
•Reaching at all levels
•Stooping, bending, kneeling, or crouching
•Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens
Functions of the Position:
Assist with preventative maintenance on equipment by inspecting equipment and facilities for proper operation and working condition. Maintain routine records and determined type/extent of malfunction and as necessary: adjust, disassemble, and repair/replace parts or components, reassemble, and test for proper operation. Report more serious problems to the Director of Plant Operations for instructions or maintenance scheduling.
Service and make repairs to heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment, including: fans, motors, thermostats, dampers, and controls. Replace filters and fluids as necessary. Clean heating and cooling coils, condensers, and cooling towers. Maintain routine records of repair.
Assist with responding to all calls. Complete work orders for routine and emergency repairs. Complete repairs and document services rendered.
Perform a variety of general semi-skilled maintenance, alterations and repairs to machinery, equipment or facilities as assigned. Perform maintenance in accordance with basic skills and abilities, standard procedures, diagrams, or manufacturer's instructions, such as:
Routine electrical maintenance, replacements or alteration of switches , control equipment and mechanisms, motors, transformers, relays, generators, appliances fixtures, alarms, communication equipment, etc.
General mechanical maintenance of hospital equipment and kitchen equipment, excluding specialized and highly technical x-ray and surgical equipment requiring specialized, experience, and training.
General plumbing maintenance- maintain, repair and make alterations to steam, gas, water, air and sanitary plumbing pipes and fixtures. Bend, cut, ream, and thread pipe, test joints, and pipe systems for leaks. Repair and replace valves, repair leaks and clear drain stoppages.
Maintain assigned mechanical rooms and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
Assist with performing a variety of routine manual duties as required such as moving supplies, furniture, equipment, removing trash, scrap material, and replacing light bulbs, etc.
Support and participate in quality initiatives as required.
Attend hospital in-service programs and department meetings.
Adhere to hospital and department policies and procedures.
Maintain a professional rapport with patients, visitors, doctors, staff, and other departments.
Demonstrate maturity and accountability for job performance. Support the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the Department(s) and assess areas of personal and professional growth.
