3 9:00 am Event: Operation Medicine Cabinet Location: Dosher Hospital Front Entrance 924 N. Howe St. Southport Description: Operation Medicine Cabinet is a drive through drug take back event which enables local residents to drop off unwanted and expired prescription medications at the front entrance of the hospital without having to leave their vehicles. Operation Medicine Cabinet helps prevent drug misuse and minimizes environmental impacts by providing an alternative to household disposal methods. Operation Medicine Cabinet will take place on Tuesday December 3rd between the hours of 9:00 am and 1:00 pm at the Dosher Hospital front entrance at 924 N. Howe Street Southport. Sharps containers will not be accepted at this event, however, Dosher staff members will have information on hand on how to safely dispose sharps at home. Please note: Dosher is unable to collect any medications outside of the published hours of this event. Participants who arrive early will be asked to hold onto their medications until 9:00 am. Community members who arrive after 1:00 pm will be directed to other local safe medication disposal locations. These measures are for the safety of our staff and community, and Dosher appreciates everyone’s understanding. 4 5:30 pm Event: Dosher Christmas Tree Lighting Location: Dosher Hospital Main Lobby Description: Join us as we welcome the holiday season at Dosher, with a Christmas Tree Lighting on Wednesday December 4th at 5:30pm in the Dosher Main Lobby. Listen to carolers from the South Brunswick High School choir and enjoy hot chocolate and holiday treats. All are welcome. |
5 Event: The Total Joint Experience (9:30am - 10:30am & 1:00pm - 2:00pm) Location: Dosher Hospital Conference Room (Use Hospital Back Entrance) Description: The free seminar, given by Dosher Orthopedic Nurse Navigator Chelsea Beard, RN, BSN, will help patients know what to expect in several aspects of care with regard to preparing for joint replacement surgery. It is a requirement for all patients who are scheduled for a joint replacement surgery at Dosher Hospital to attend due to the numerous benefits it offers. Data shows that joint class participants experience a decrease in length of stay, GI issues, pain, anxiety, VTE prevention, reduction of errors, and overall better outcomes. Our aim is to ensure that all patients undergoing total joint surgery at Dosher are fully informed and prepared for the procedure, and we believe that Joint Class is an essential part of achieving this goal. In this class, you will become familiar with this hospital and have your questions answered by a highly experienced member of the Dosher OR team. Patients are encouraged to bring a spouse, friend, or coach, especially one who will be supporting them through surgery and recovery from their total joint replacement. |

7 12:00 pm Event: Oak Island Christmas by the Sea Parade Watch Party Location: Dosher Medical Oak Island (Outside) 4700 E. Oak Island Drive Description: Join us for a jolly good time! Dosher Memorial Hospital invites you to join us on Saturday December 7th to view the Oak Island Christmas By the Sea Parade from the front yard of our Oak Island Medical Clinic. Stop by the tents in the Dosher Medical Oak Island parking lot for a hot chocolate and a snack. Bring a chair and find your spot along East Oak Island Drive to watch one of the area’s most anticipated parades of the year. Our event will run from 12-3 pm. The parade begins at 2. Please note that the inside of our Oak Island Clinic will be closed. This is an outdoor only event. |

27 8:30 am Event: American Red Cross Blood Drive Location: JayCee Building 309 N. Fodale Ave. Description: Dosher Memorial Hospital will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive at the JayCee building, at 309 N. Fodale Ave., down the road from the main entrance of the hospital. Community members who would like to donate blood at this event are encouraged to sign up online at www.redcrossblood.org and enter in zip code 28461 in the “Find a Blood Drive” search tool. Look for "JayCee Building" and the date and click, “See times,” to check schedule availability. Tap on the donation time of your choice and fill in the requested information. All donors are welcome.
