Dosher Invites Local Photographers to Submit Landscape Artwork for Clinics and Emergency Department

Release date: April 30, 2026

Dosher Memorial Hospital is calling on local photographers to help bring comfort, beauty, and a sense of community into its care spaces by contributing landscape photography for display throughout its clinics and hospital.

This initiative aims to create a welcoming environment for patients, families, and staff by showcasing images that reflect the natural beauty and iconic beach, nature, and street scenes of the Smithville Township area.

Said Lynda Stanley, President and CEO of Dosher, “We want to take this opportunity to support the great work of local artists while enhancing the patient experience.”

The photos submitted will be used in the recently renovated Oak Island and Long Beach Road clinics along with Dosher’s new Emergency Department which opened in December of 2025. Several years ago, Dosher called upon area photographers and staff members to submit photos for the hospital hallways and Patient Care Unit. Said Stanley, “The familiar landscapes and scenes from our community, have helped cultivate a warm and hospitable atmosphere in the spaces where they are displayed, and we look forward to enhancing the tone of our newer care spaces through these additional submissions.”

Submission Guidelines:

Photographs must be original works of the submitting artist.
To be considered, photos will feature local landscapes, nature scenes, or outdoor environments in the Smithville Township geographical area, which includes Southport, Oak Island, Caswell Beach, and Bald Head Island.
Only digital files with a minimum resolution of 12 megapixels and a 3,000 x 4,000 pixel crop will be accepted.
This initiative is entirely donation-based and does not involve compensation.
Selected images may be printed and displayed in patient rooms, waiting areas, or hallways.
Submissions should include the photographer’s name, contact information, and a brief description of the image location.
Dosher will accept up to five (5) submissions from each photographer.
Use of photos submitted will be contingent upon conformity to above guidelines and overall quality of the photos received.

Photographers of all experience levels are encouraged to participate. There is no fee to submit, and contributors will receive recognition for their work where displayed.

How to Submit:

Interested individuals can submit their work by visiting the web page Dosher.org/photo for full details and submission instructions.
Submissions will be accepted through May 27, 2026. Participants whose photos are selected will be contacted by July 1st.
