Dosher Master Facility Plan

Welcome to Dosher Memorial Hospital’s Master Facility Plan (MFP) web page. As the fastest growing area in North Carolina, Dosher recognizes the growth that Brunswick County is experiencing. We further recognize that Dosher must continue to grow to keep pace with the needs of our community. To meet those growth needs, Dosher initiated a seven-year Master Facility Plan in 2023 that makes provision for vital renovations and upgrades to our facility that will support our mission of providing extraordinary care.

This page provides community members with regular updates on the construction and renovation projects associated with the MFP. Check back here often or

Master Facility Plan Phase 1

Phase 1 of the Dosher Master Facility plan was announced on April 26, 2023. Phase 1 includes the following capital projects:

New Emergency Department

The most significant project in Dosher’s Master Facility Plan is the construction of a new 8,000 sq. ft. Emergency Department Complex which will stand at the corner of E. 9th and N. Howe Street in Southport. The new Emergency Department will increase the current treatment spaces from 10 to 14 and will also include the addition of 6-8 vertical care chairs to streamline wait times and care for patients of lower acuity. The new ED space will include its own X-Ray, lab draw station, and registration desk.

This project made provisions to upgrade the flooring throughout the entrance of the Long Beach Road clinic and to finish the buildout of 3,622 sq. ft. of shell space. The additional space will allow Dosher to add three additional providers at a later date.

Expansion of Central Sterile Space

Phase 1 of the Dosher MFP made provision for Dosher to expand and upgrade the hospital’s sterile processing space. Renovations were designed to maintain high standards of infection control, support increased surgical capacity, improve processing times and improve storage.
Project completed March 2024.

Expansion of Hospital Lab

Dosher plans for renovation of the hospital’s lab space by increasing the size of the waiting areas and by adding bench space, an additional blood draw station, and a new patient restroom. The renovated space, when complete, will total 2,409 sq. ft.
Project completion slated by the end of 2025.

Expansion of Pharmacy

Phase 1 of the MFP makes provision for expansion of Dosher’s inpatient pharmacy. The expanded pharmacy will occupy 2,243 sq. ft. of space and will be located adjacent to the hospital’s lab. Improvements to the space include high density shelving for the pharmacy’s use as well as the build-out of an IV area for future use.
Project completion slated by the end of 2025.

Thank You for Helping Dosher Thrive

Dosher extends heartfelt gratitude to area taxpayers for their important role in the success of the MFP. The capital projects outlined above would not be possible without you. As a township-owned hospital, Dosher Memorial Hospital is fortunate to receive ad valorem tax revenue which helps subsidize our capital expenditures and maintenance costs. Utilizing tax revenue to finance infrastructure needs outlined within the MPF enables us to invest more of our operating revenue in people, equipment upgrades and education for our staff, which has a direct impact on quality of care. Your continuing support makes the future of healthcare bright for our growing community.
