New Dosher Emergency Department Opens to Patients December 16th

Dosher Memorial Hospital announced today that their new Emergency Department is open to patients, effective immediately, as of Tuesday December 16, 2025 at 7:00 am. The new ED stands at the corner of North Howe and East 9th Streets in Southport, with the entrance to the patient parking lot on East 9th street.

The new 8,000 square foot Dosher Emergency Department is double the size of the current ED, will have increased patient capacity and is designed to streamline provider workflow in order to enhance patient care. The construction of a new Emergency Department was first announced in April 2023 along with several other hospital and clinic expansion and renovation projects, as part of Phase 1 of the Dosher Master Facility Plan.

The old Emergency Department will be renovated and used as provider clinic space.
