September 12, 2024 - Dosher Begins Site Preparations for Construction of New Emergency Department
Two Oak Island Providers to Temporarily Relocate
To accommodate Oak Island Clinic Renovations
Two primary care providers from Dosher Medical Oak Island will temporarily relocate to Dosher Medical Plaza at 4222 Long Beach Road in Southport. Dr. Laura Strickland and Dr. Lorraine Gauthier will begin to see patients at Dosher Medical Plaza on Monday January 22, 2024 in order to accommodate renovations occurring at the Oak Island clinic. Deborah Cobb, FNP-BC will continue to see patients at the Oak Island practice during this period. Patients of Dosher Medical Oak Island may call 910-278-6414 for further information.
Dosher to Relocate Three Provider Clinics to Accommodate Emergency Department Construction
To accommodate the construction of the new Dosher Emergency Department, the following three (3) Dosher Medical Clinics will be relocating the fall of 2023.
Dosher Medical-Southport, Dr. Jessica Bocook
The family medicine practice of Dr. Jessica Bocook will move her practice to Dosher Medical-Long Beach Road at 4222 Long Beach Road, Southport. Dr. Bocook will begin seeing patients at the new location on Monday October 2nd.

Dosher Medical-General Surgery, Dr. Paul Armstrong
The general surgery practice of Dr. Paul Armstrong will move to 821 N. Atlantic Ave., Southport, directly behind Dosher Hospital. Dr. Armstrong will begin seeing patients in the new location on Tuesday October 24th.

The Dosher Wound Care Center
The Dosher Wound Care Center is moving from their current clinic space to Dosher Hospital, at 924 N. Howe Street, Southport. The patient entrance to the Wound Care Center will be located adjacent to the back entrance of the hospital, at E. 9th Street and N. Atlantic Ave., where parking will also be available. Look for signage outside the entrance that Wound Care patients should use. The Wound Care Center will begin to see patients at this location on Tuesday December 5th.

April 26, 2023: Dosher Memorial Hospital announced today that they are entering Phase 1 of their 7-year Master Facility Plan. Phase 1 will take approximately 3 years to complete and will include the following renovations and expansions to the hospital and medical clinics:
- Expansion of current Central Sterile space, installing a second washer to expand throughput
- Addition of three (3) provider work spaces at Dosher Medical Plaza on Long Beach Road
- Construction of two (2) additional provider pods on Oak Island
- Expansion of Hospital Lab to 2,409 sq. ft.to increase waiting area and bench space, adding a blood draw station and patient restroom
- Expand pharmacy to 2,243 sq. ft.
- Building a new 8,000 sq. ft. Emergency Department Complex which will stand at the corner of E. 9th and N. Howe Street.
The new Emergency Department will increase the current treatment spaces from 10 to 14 and will also include the addition of 6-8 vertical care chairs, to streamline wait times and care for patients of lower acuity. The new ED space will include its own X-Ray, lab draw station, and registration desk. The old Emergency Department will be converted to clinic space for medical providers.

Furthermore, this project illustrates how our area’s tax dollars are reinvesting in local healthcare.”
