CONTROLLER - Accounting
JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for direct supervision of all accounting and financial functions. Primary responsibilities include supervision of the monthly close process, accounts payable, payroll, and monthly reporting. Preparation of forecasts, annual preparation of budget, applicable annual tax return preparation, annual financial audits and all treasury administration.

The Controller will also be part of a team that creates and implements policies and procedures to identify, resolve and document accounting issues in addition to creating procedures to make the close and reporting processes more efficient and accurate.

EDUCATION:

BS/BA degree in finance, accounting, business or a related discipline required.
CPA designation preferred.
A graduate level degree is a plus.

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supports the mission of the hospital.
Assures hospital compliance with federal, state and local government laws and regulations,and accrediting agency standards.
Maintains service line reports.
Maintains general ledger, is responsible for monthly closing activities and ensures audit
adjustments are minimized.
Maintains and utilizes specialized knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Reviews and provides logical explanations for monthly and annual variances in general ledger accounts and hospital statistics.
Acts as liaison with external stakeholders in providing required financial reports and information.

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS REQUIRED:

5-to-10 years of progressive career experience in Hospital Finance/Accounting. Hospital Controller experience preferred.
Knowledge of not-for-profit accounting in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
In-depth knowledge of the current trends and developments in healthcare reform and other federal programs.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate the financial condition of the organization to the CFO and other members of hospital leadership.
