Dosher Completes Successful School Supply Drive

Donations are for the benefit of students served by Communities In Schools of Brunswick County

Release date: September 4, 2025

The annual “Operation School Supplies” at Dosher Memorial Hospital which took place on Thursday, August 7th collected $130 in monetary donations along with a wide range of supplies including backpacks, notebooks, pencils, crayons, markers, folders and glue sticks from generous supporters. All monetary and school supply donations were for the benefit of students served by Communities In Schools of Brunswick County.

This event was held in conjunction with the Communities In Schools annual Back to School Supply Drive which takes place each August. Dosher began hosting the school supply drive in 2021. The 2024 event was canceled due to Tropical Storm Debby, therefore the hospital was eager to return to their annual tradition of supporting local students through this initiative.

Dosher President and CEO Lynda Stanley said, “We are very grateful for staff and community members who supported this event, to help ensure that students in our community have the tools to help them succeed this school year. Dosher appreciates the work of Communities In Schools, and we are happy to host this event to support the important services they provide for Brunswick County school children.”

CIS Executive Director Bonnie Jordan said, “Ensuring students have the tools needed to start a new school year is a critical first step in being prepared to learn. For families that struggle financially to provide the supplies their children need, these donations are essential. We are so very grateful for the support of Dosher Memorial Hospital and our generous community members! Through your generosity all students, regardless of personal circumstance, will have the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive in their school community.”
