The Total Joint Experience (9:30am - 10:30am & 1:00pm - 2:00pm)
The free seminar, given by Dosher Orthopedic Nurse Navigator Chelsea Beard, RN, BSN, will help patients know what to expect in several aspects of care with regard to preparing for joint replacement surgery. It is a requirement for all patients who are scheduled for a joint replacement surgery at Dosher Hospital to attend due to the numerous benefits it offers. Data shows that joint class participants experience a decrease in length of stay, GI issues, pain, anxiety, VTE prevention, reduction of errors, and overall better outcomes. Our aim is to ensure that all patients undergoing total joint surgery at Dosher are fully informed and prepared for the procedure, and we believe that Joint Class is an essential part of achieving this goal. In this class, you will become familiar with this hospital and have your questions answered by a highly experienced member of the Dosher OR team. Patients are encouraged to bring a spouse, friend, or coach, especially one who will be supporting them through surgery and recovery from their total joint replacement.

POSTPONED Chit Chat and Chocolate! Women's Health Event
Due to the aftermath of PTC8, Dosher has decided to postpone this event until the roads reopen and the traffic patterns in and out of Southport are back to normal. Please stand by for a new date! Dosher Memorial Hospital will hold its third annual “Chit Chat and Chocolate” women’s health event on Tuesday, October 29th from 6-7pm at Indian Trail Meeting Hall, 113 W. Moore Street in downtown Southport. The month of October, with its global focus on breast cancer awareness, has become a time to share information on a variety of issues impacting women’s health. The speaker for this event is Maritza Manrique-Kiniry, MD, Board Certified gynecologist and gynecological surgeon, who practices out of Dosher Medical-Women’s Health in Southport. Dr. Manrique-Kiniry will discuss the latest guidelines for screenings and prevention on selected women’s health topics and will allot time for questions. Chef Joe Hill from the Dosher Café will provide refreshments which will include his famous "health friendly" chocolate bark. RSVP is suggested as space is limited. Call Dosher Community Relations at 910-457-3900 to reserve your seat or click the link below.
