Dosher Drug Drop Reports Turnout of 302 Households
Release date: October 14, 2026
A total of 302 households safely disposed of 6,754 expired or unwanted narcotic pills and 470 milliliters of narcotic liquids at Dosher Memorial Hospital’s 31st semiannual Operation Medicine Cabinet, held Wednesday, October 7. The collected medications were sorted and transported off hospital grounds for safe incineration.
“We are grateful for the continued participation of our community in Operation Medicine Cabinet,” said Dosher President and CEO Lynda Stanley. “Every collection provides an important opportunity to keep unwanted medications out of the wrong hands and protect our families and neighbors. The community’s response demonstrates how much we can accomplish when we work together to promote safety and prevent prescription drug misuse.”
In addition to Dosher employees, staff from the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office and Coastal Horizons were on-site to assist with the collection and provide law enforcement support.
“We appreciate the dedication of our community partners, whose involvement helps make this event possible,” Stanley said. “Their support reinforces our shared commitment to keeping our community safe and encouraging the responsible disposal of unused and expired medications.”
The next Operation Medicine Cabinet collection is scheduled for April 2027. Visit Dosher.org and check the event calendar for the date and time.
