Dosher Presents, “Beyond Joint Pain: Understanding Your Options”

Orthopedic Open House Offers Community a Closer Look at Orthopedic Care
Release date: August 24, 2026

Dosher Memorial Hospital is inviting community members to “Beyond Joint Pain, Understanding Your Options,” an open house featuring the hospital’s orthopedic surgical services on Tuesday, September 29, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Dosher front lobby, located at the corner of North Howe Street and Fodale Avenue in Southport.

The event will give community members an opportunity to meet Dosher’s orthopedic team, learn more about available treatment options, and get a behind-the-scenes look at the hospital’s orthopedic surgery service line.

Dosher is a well known and respected regional leader in orthopedics and joint replacement. Recent hip replacement patient Linda Castro had praised her Dosher care team for their skill and personal attention, stating, “Everyone was so kind, and I felt truly cared for every step of the way. They are exceptionally good at what they do!”

“Choosing to have orthopedic surgery is an important decision, and we want patients to feel informed and confident at every stage of their journey,” said Dosher CEO Lynda Stanley. “This open house is a great opportunity to meet our orthopedic team, ask questions, and learn what to expect before, during and after surgery.”

During the open house, guests will have the chance to:

• Attend a Q&A session with orthopedic surgeons who specialize in joint replacement and sports medicine.
• Listen to the experience of a patient who had their surgery performed at Dosher.
• Tour Dosher’s surgical services area and learn more about the hospital’s surgical capabilities
• Get an up-close look at the Mako SmartRobotics™ system, which is used at Dosher for knee and hip replacement procedures.
• Learn how to prepare for a procedure and what to expect during recovery.
• Learn more about the patient experience, from pre-operative education through recovery and rehabilitation.

The Mako surgical robot will be a featured part of the evening. Guests will be able to see the technology up close and learn how robotic-assisted technology is used to help surgeons plan and perform certain knee and hip replacement procedures.

Dosher Memorial Hospital holds an Advanced Hip & Knee Replacement Certification from DNV, recognizing the hospital’s commitment to excellence in orthopedic care across the continuum of hip and knee replacement services. The certification reflects Dosher’s capabilities in diagnostic services, surgical care and therapies associated with hip and knee replacement, reinforcing the hospital’s commitment to providing high-quality orthopedic care close to home.

“Having an Advanced Hip & Knee Replacement Certification from DNV demonstrates our commitment to providing our community with extraordinary orthopedic care and the resources patients need throughout their surgical journey,” said Stanley. “We want this open house to give people an opportunity to see that care firsthand, meet the specialists who provide it, and get the information they need to make confident decisions about their orthopedic health.”

The event is designed for anyone considering orthopedic surgery, as well as family members and caregivers who want to learn more about treatment options and the surgical experience. This event is free, however, due to space limitations, an RSVP is required. Go to dosher.org/ortho-rsvp or call the Community Relations Department at 910-457-3900.
