Dosher showcases local art in patient care spaces
Release Date:October 30, 2026
SOUTHPORT —Dosher Memorial Hospital has selected the photographs that will soon hang throughout its care spaces, following a spring call for submissions that invited local photographers to share landscape images of the area.
Out of 226 submissions, 86 photographs were chosen for printing on canvas and installation. All photographers whose work was selected have been notified.
A panel of five judges reviewed each submission and scored it on five criteria: creativity and originality, technical quality, composition, theme relevance, and emotional and visual impact. The photographs with the highest combined scores were selected.
Installation is currently underway in Dosher’s new Emergency Department, which opened in December 2025, as well as the recently renovated Oak Island and Long Beach Road clinics and the General Surgery clinic. Each piece will be displayed with recognition of the photographer who created it.
“We are excited to get the installation underway and see these photographs in place for our patients, families, and staff,” said Dosher CEO Lynda Stanley. “We are grateful to everyone who submitted their work and was willing to lend us their time and talent. These photos are a perfect visual representation of the beautiful area we call home.”
