On Tuesday April 14th, Dosher Memorial Hospital will team up with Brunswick Senior Resources in Southport (BSRI) to present an educational seminar entitled Stay Ahead of a Stroke: Prevention & Early Recognition. Presented by Dosher’s Speech Language Pathologist Jaime Staron, MA, CCC-SLP/L, this information session will discuss ways to reduce risk of stroke, how to spot warning signs that can save your or someone else’s life, and what to expect when in stroke recovery.
The speaker, Jaime Staron, has been with Dosher since 2016 and has been a practicing Speech Therapist since 2006. Jaime, who holds a Master’s of Art in Communication Disorders from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, has extensive experience with patients in stroke recovery in addition to working with people with traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injuries, Dementia, Parkinson's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, ALS, Muscular Dystrophy, developmental disabilities, and head and neck cancers. Jaime has practiced in diverse therapeutic environments, including inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing, and school-based interventions, to name a few. Jaime holds additional certifications in Vital Stim, which helps treat swallowing disorders, and LSVT Loud, which helps patients with Parkinson’s Disease and similar neurological disorders use their voice in a more normal loudness level by recalibrating their perceptions of vocal loudness in daily communication. Jaime enjoys educating her patients and empowering them to be active participants in their own recovery and long-term health.
This seminar will be held at the Brunswick Senior Resources Center in Southport, located at 1513 N. Howe St., Ste. 1. The date and time are Tuesday, April 14 at 12:30 pm. There will be time allotted for questions at the end of the presentation.
