Dosher to Host Breast Cancer Awareness Booth on October 14th

Release date: September 17, 2026

The month of October, with its global focus on breast cancer and early detection, provides an important opportunity to raise awareness about issues affecting women’s health. Dosher Memorial Hospital is pleased to partner with Brunswick County Health Services on Wednesday, October 14, to host an educational booth in the hospital’s front lobby, at 924 N. Howe Street in Southport, offering a variety of resources to visitors.

The booth will include instructions on self-examination and breast health education models, which allow participants to learn how to detect hidden irregularities and better understand the limitations of self-exams. These models underscore the importance of regular screening mammograms, which remain the most effective method for early breast cancer detection.

Information will also be available on breast and cervical cancer screenings offered through the county for community members who are uninsured or meet specific income guidelines.

Visitors can also learn about Dosher’s plans to implement high-definition mammography in late 2026, which will offer significantly improved image quality, faster imaging times, and a lower radiation dose. Dosher continues to remain at the forefront of breast imaging technology, currently screening patients with advanced 3D mammography. The hospital is excited to introduce this next-generation technology to the community this fall.

The booth will be set up from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, in the Dosher front lobby. All are welcome to stop by, and there is no charge for any of the resources available. Refreshments and small giveaways will be provided for visitors.
