Dosher Appoints New Chief Medical Officer

Dosher Memorial Hospital recently announced the appointment of Mesha Chadwick, MD, as their new Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Chadwick has deep roots in Brunswick County where she was born and raised. After graduating from North Brunswick High School, she continued her undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She then went onto Ross University School of Medicine in Portsmouth, Dominica only to return home to complete her residency program in Internal Medicine at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Dr. Chadwick is board-certified in Internal Medicine with a focus on hospital-based medicine, throughput, and quality driven health care. Dr. Chadwick comes to us from Novant NHRMC in Wilmington where she worked as a Hospitalist with Wilmington Health for almost fifteen years, served as their Medical Director, led the medical staff as President in 2020, followed by the Credentials Chair while serving on several other committees. Her most recent appointment was Medical Director for the Regional Transfer Center & Acute Care Operations where she led efforts at decreasing emergency department hold hours. In this position, Dr. Chadwick also helped reduce missed transfers by 77%, resulting in over 1200 additional transfers of patients in need of tertiary services compared to prior year. In addition, she acted as a Physician Advisor assisting with status determinations and overturning insurance claims denials.
