PCU Dedication Held for Community

Dosher Hospital held a dedication ceremony for its newly completed Patient Care Unit on June 14, 2015 in the main lobby of the hospital.

The dedication, emceed by Dosher Hospital CEO Tom Siemers, featured an Invocation by Rev. Brian Monroe, pastor of First Baptist Church in Southport, followed by the presentation of colors by the South Brunswick High School Army JROTC and leading of the pledge of allegiance by Sgt. Major Richard Franklin of Sunny Point.

Honored guests included Janet Bradbury (representing U.S. Sen. Richard Burr), Austen Shearer (representing U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis), Chance Lambeth (representing Congressman David Rouzer), Randy Gore (State Director of USDA Rural Development), Brunswick County Commissioner Pat Sykes, Mayor Robert Howard (Southport), and Mayor Becky Dus (St. James).

Also in attendance were architect Wayne Gregory (Peterson KSQ), Pat Rodgers (Rodgers Builders Construction Management), Dosher Hospital trustees, Foundation board members, physicians, employees and volunteers.

One of the highlights of the ceremony was when Dr. Robert Zukoski-after whom the new Patient Care Unit was named-talked to the crowd and reminisced about his experiences over his more than 30 years as a general surgeon at Dosher.

Following the ceremony, attendees visited the hospital's new Gift Shop and toured the newly finished Patient Care Rooms and Nurses' Station.

The new inpatient facility opened for patient care the next day.
