What You Need to Know About Medicaid Expansion

Starting December 1st, 2023, more people in North Carolina will be able to get health care coverage through Medicaid.

Due to Medicaid Expansion, you may be eligible for Medicaid benefits even if you did not qualify before.

●You live in North Carolina

●Age 19 – 64

●Your household income fits within the chart below.

What does Medicaid cover?

NC Medicaid covers most health services, including primary care, hospital services, maternity care, vision and hearing, prescription drug benefit, behavioral health, preventative and wellness service, devices and other therapies.

How to apply:

●People can apply online by setting up an ePass account and providing all of the information requested. Apply at epass.nc.gov

●The application may take up to 45 days to process

●If you were eligible before, you still are. Nothing changes for you. If you do not qualify for Medicaid but need health coverage, go to healthcare.gov for additional insurance option
