Cataract Pre-Admission RN
PRN (as needed)
Organizes pre-operative charts according to hospital policy and physicians' orders, interviews with the patients, communicates with anesthesia any findings and assists with coordination of surgical scheduling to enhance efficiency.
Qualifications:
A. Education
1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
B. Licensure/Certification
1. Current NC license as a Registered Nurse
2. Current BLS certification
C. Experience
1. At least three (3) years of recent perioperative or five (5) years of Med-Surg experience
2. Prior experience as a Discharge Planning Nurse or Utilization Review Nurse preferred
Physical Demands:
a. Frequent standing and walking
b. Lifting – frequently up to 25 lb; occasionally up to 40 lbs
c. Carrying – frequently 25 lbs
d. Repetitive finger movements – frequently
Functions of the Position (not an exhaustive list):
- Oversees intake to include an initial physical assessment and interview the patient to
obtain their medical history
- Organize pre-operative chart according to hospital policy and physicians’ orders for tests before surgery
- Educate the patients on how to prepare for surgery, what to expect in surgery and their post-surgical care plan
